Climate change and water management important topic at Asian Development Bank’s annual meeting in Tashkent

The 43rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was hold 3-4 May in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A seminar on implementing the outcomes of the Copenhagen Climate Change meeting in Asia and the Pacific took place May 2nd.

The seminar discussed climate change issues of relevance to development and poverty reduction efforts in Asia and the Pacific, with special attention to the challenges faced by the countries of Central and West Asia. The discussions covered, among others, the adaptation and mitigation dimensions of water resources management, desertification, threats to mountain ecosystems and implications for hydropower development.
