Nearly half of the world's population lives in river basins in which the water is shared between several countries. Some of the world’s most conflict ridden regions also suffer from water scarcity. How to share the water is one of the major political and environmental questions on the global agenda - 2013 will be the UN international year of water cooperation. With examples from four important river basins in the world, this seminar will address the challenges and possibilities that shared water brings.
