Climate, Water and Vulnerability
The Group's aim is to gather representatives from different actors such as governmental, non-governmental and research institutions to synthesise and probe the latest policies and issues related to climate and water from global to local perspective. Regular internal meetings are held throughout the year plus periodic seminars at the World Water Week in Stockholm and Almedalen Week. During the last two years, the group formulated a common policy brief aimed towards practitioners and decision-makers. The policy brief in English "Adapting Water Management to Climate Change" and Swedish "Att säkra vattenresurser i ett föränderligt klimat" can be downloaded in here.
The Cluster Group advocates four key messages in all our work:
• Climate change will significantly influence water resources in all parts of the globe.
• Robust adaptation strategies will be needed in many countries to meet this challenge.
• Positive examples of sustainable adaptation strategies need to be promoted and disseminated according to local conditions.
• Extensive financial contributions are already required to meet current demands of climate variability – adaptation to climate change will require even more.
The Group holds regular discussions, arranges seminars at the World Water Week in Stockholm and Almedalen, and will be preparing a policy paper during the spring in 2008.
