Sustainability of the Planet
2006-10-03 - 2006-10-04
Can organisations working with sustainability, partner in a global long term program that includes actions and follow ups? Such a program can be the next phase in sustainable development initiated by this Forum and Workshops.
The event is a unique partnership between organisations working with sustainability issues - ISO, World Business Council and International Institute for Sustainable Development.
The aim of the Forum is to draw more attention to Sustainable Development, such as environmental and social issues and enable stakeholders to influence the design and content of future activities that needs to be taken. The result of this unique partnership will be a long term action program initiated by this international forum and workshops. The content of activities in this program will include:
• how to use and handle the strategic global resources while avoiding depletion by 2050
• how to make the business case for a sustainable future, and
• how to produce standards for the future of a sustainable world
As a starting point, the forum will use the Club of Rome’s “Limits to growth” report as presented at Stockholm in 1972, and “Our Common Future” (Brundtland Report) from 1987, “Beyond the limits” from 1992 and “Limits to growth – The 30 years update” from 2002.
Representatives from industry, small and medium-sized enterprises, governments and non-governmental organizations are expected to attend. http://www.sustainabilityoftheplanet.se
